Sustainability
Ipek Akarca is a sustainable and slow fashion brand.
Our brand was established as a luxury daily wear that can be suitable for every hour of our modern life and for many occasions.
Traditional and contemporary meet in our designs.
All our pattern designs are prepared by hand-painting with various traditional batik techniques and brushes on white pure silk fabrics.
The labels of the limited number of collections consisting of patterns produced as ‘design prints’ have serial numbers indicating the number of production. In other words, the person who buys and uses the product knows how many of the product he/she is using and how many of the product he/she has in his/her hand.
On the one hand, new ideas, colours and patterns are always added to the collection, on the other hand, every product produced with a serial number is in season for us until it finds its owner. So there is no old season.
Quality for Sustainable Designs
The sustainability of the design is as vital to us as the colours and patterns. For this, we offer the right materials with high workmanship so that it can be used for many years with the quality of the first day.
We take inspiration from nature in pattern designs and for the same reason, we use only natural blended fabrics such as 100% Silk, 100% Cotton or 100% Viscose, 100% Linen, 100% Wool in our collections.
We use natural materials instead of non-biodegradable packaging materials such as plastic and nylon.
In mould designs, we strive to use designs that can be produced with the lowest possible loss.
Supply
All our fabric sourcing factories implement sustainability processes and have valid occupational health and safety certificates.
Local artisans:
We use local mouldmakers to support small businesses and produce with local artisans whenever possible.
Labour ethics:
All the subcontractors, craftsmen and artisan workshops we work with are our team. We are strict about ethical working conditions. We choose our team mates accordingly.
Social responsibility:
We cooperate with non-profit organisations. We take our store to social responsibility events at least 4 times a year to support ongoing sustainable projects.
Education:
We continue to give lectures on traditional and modern fabric dyeing arts in the workshops and workshops we organise.
